BINYAMINA
Previously called "Eliaz", I can't help but think that the main problem this winery has to overcome is the memories left by the disastrous products of that past era...
Three colections are available : the basic "Bistro" and I turned to be too much a wine snob for approaching these, the standard Binyamina and the Reserve enjoyable in a medium body style and with eventually some aging potential.
The standards leave me quite confused. Limited for years to Merlot and Cabernet (I leave apart the sadly popular israeli Emerald-Riesling), they were sometimes nice varietals, sometimes felt barely drinkable. Recently introduced, the Tempranillo went out particularly unsuccesful in my own tastings, while the Shiraz showed nicely... But opposite opinions can be read here around... hard to comment...
Since vintage 2002, new labels were introduced and they constitute the latest addition to this page. Also joined two antiques from not so good old times of "Eliaz".
Unfortunately, I visited the place only on satursdays when the visitor center is closed but I'd have a lot to ask there when I'll find the place open.
