ALEXANDER
The story tells that some Alexander was an inspiring ancestor of the winemaker, the road map shows some "Alexander" river not far from the winery, the top-product of the winery, "Alexander-the-Great", illustrates that somebody's having fun with the ambiguous meaning of the name.
With a production of about 10000 bottles a year and with prices around $ 35 for a bottle, I didn't have the luck to approach much of the regular series but this Merlot which was nicely rewarding. Full body as one can expect from a good israeli red, approaching peak after 5 years, intense, classic and well built, it makes it tempting exploring the brothers of the collection. The "Sandro" is an attempt at making a somewhere lighter and more affordable product. Unfortunately I can't report finding in it the same charms.
